Funny, surprising, amazing and can not be guessed are four attracting points of Weird Al Yankovic’sworks. The strange genius man Weird Al Yankovic is really a special creator of rewriting a famous pop classic song into a new one. His creations are always laughing, satirical, and think. People can find out that he did not only rewrite a song but also a MV and he pretended he was the big star in the whole imitating show.
It was difficult to deciding which one is my favorite of the four songs, because they are all interesting and singular. “Like A surgeon” used a long time and a little slow tempo as the original song, and was successful in making a preposterous and blood surgeon. The one lay on the table was just like a mystery pocket that the surgeon could pick out anything possible in the earth. When I watched the MV, I thought I hate lying on the table and did not want to go to the hospital. It was really terrible at the beginning, after a while I felt it was so exaggerate that was too funny.
I have heard the original tone of “One More Minute” in an old song, and it was a strong, absolutely popular song but now is just old. When face to some classical works as songs, literal novel and poems, and arts in Chinese, Chinese people always treat the classical works in serous. Although people want to learn the sprits from the traditional classical works, people are hard to turn them in an easy or soft way. It is the reason why many foreigners showed the ideas that they borrowed from Chinese culture in movies, advertisement, and MANGA(日本漫畫的羅馬拼音) . Chinese people love and respect all great pieces in Chinese traditional works, but more love more challenges in turning old in new. So I think Weird Al Yankovic is pretty good when use the old popular songs’ style to making a his original song. Maybe we can learn the changing spirit from him. Just to try to make a interesting work but not to ask the new one has to like the classical completely.
Both of “Eat it” and “Fat” are my favorite, but “Fat” is better than “Eat it.”
“Eat it” shows the parents’ feeling. They are angry, they are worried, and all they want is let their children eat good things or the food they prepared. “Fat” imitated the song and the MV of “Bad.” Weird Al Yankovic suddenly became a huge fat man in black fur pants, and he became bigger and bigger as swallowing foods. It is really fantastic just like the some characters used their magic tools in cartoons. In “Fat” fat became a proud and a powerful thing. A fat man can be a superman. The people in whole world have to yield the fat. In fact many fat people are afraid of fat, and feel some strange eyes from others on the street. So I consider “Fat” is a masterpiece of satire. It made a joke to “Bad” and pointed out the contradiction of fat. Fat people are huge, but fat people are worried about fat.
